Space station astronauts capture stunning views of Earth’s edge

If the state of planet Earth makes us sad, check out this new photo taken by French astronaut Thomas Pesquet while staying at the ISS

Pesquet station , engineer at the European Space Agency ESA

He’s a member of the SpaceX Crew-2 mission team with the Nasa Expedition 65 team
Arrived at the ISS in April 2021 and its second flight.

Pesquet became famous, after he captured the photo and shared it around the world.
What is seen and made, Earth is still beautiful at least from space.

Pesquet took photos in one of the ISS rooms or the Cupola dome module with windows.
Seeing Earth with city lights against the distant starlight.

There is an image like a line that runs in an orange circle around the Earth’s atmosphere.
According to an astronomer Juan Carlos Munoz said the orange light is a sodium atom.
Located at an altitude of 90km above the Earth’s surface.

Another image is like a faint green ribbon. But the line should be seen in more detail.

The green line is the trace of the oxygen atom, above the orange line.

Pesquet says it’s not easy to get a photo like this line.
When taking pictures, he must remain still. Understandably in space a bit difficult to stand unless placing the body with a support or attach a device for the camera.
Another problem, the space station is moving at a speed of 20 thousand km per hour compared to the path on Earth.
The ISS space station only takes 90 minutes, to make one rotation or orbit to Earth.

He has taken some photos by keeping the camera shutter open longer. The result is a blurry photo.
Photo taken with Nikon D5 camera, ISO 12800, 58mm f1.2 lens for 0.5 seconds

2021 is a busy year at the ISS station.
One Russian module has just been removed after decades of installation, and replaced with a new module.
Maintenance of the installation of electrical panels and instruments is also updated.

Pesquet will remain on the ISS station temporarily until October, following SpaceX Crew-3’s 3rd mission.
The Crew-3 mission brings 4 astronauts, and director Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresild depart 3 astronauts with Soyuz on October 5, 2021. The
two will make a film called The Challenge.
Will Tom Cruise also stop by the ISS in the near future?

Space stations are now not just for research. In the near future it may become a place for tourists to stop at the edge of the boundary of space.
